Honor 400 series promises 6 years of Android updates and Android 16 in 2025

Honor has confirmed that its upcoming Honor 400 series—including the standard Honor 400, 400 Pro, and 400 Lite—will receive six years of Android updates. That means owners of any model in the lineup can expect software support until at least 2031. The company also announced that all three phones will be updated to Android 16 before the end of 2025.
This move comes as part of Honor’s wider commitment to offer better long-term support for its smartphones, especially in light of changing consumer expectations and growing competition from other brands that now provide extended software coverage.
Follows trend set by Google and Samsung
The decision to extend software support puts Honor closer to what Google and Samsung are now offering. Both brands promise seven years of Android updates on selected flagship devices. While Honor is one year short of matching that standard for the 400 series, the company is already trialling seven years of support with its Magic7 series, which has received Android 16 Beta 3 and is also on track for Android 16 before the year ends.
This broader shift toward long-term updates reflects growing awareness. It shows that users are keeping phones longer and expect better value over time, not just when they buy it.
AI-powered image-to-video feature
Beyond software longevity, Honor is also adding advanced AI features to the 400 series. One highlight is the introduction of an image-to-video generation tool powered by Google’s Veo 2art model. This feature turns real-world photos or AI-generated images into short, five-second videos.

It runs on Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform and is designed to be accessible to everyday users. The feature is expected to appeal to content creators and social media. Especially those who want to add motion to their visual stories with minimal effort.
Clearer long-term value
With the 400 series, Honor is positioning itself as a viable alternative to bigger Android players. The six-year update offer and a confirmed path to Android 16 in 2025 signal a clear commitment to device longevity. Paired with AI-powered tools, the 400 series may offer one of the more balanced midrange packages in 2025. The new series is expected to launch later this year, likely around the same time as Android 16 goes public.
