Samsung is getting ready to release the last major Android update for its Galaxy A14 and A14 5G devices. Those budget phones debuted in 2023 on Android 13. They have already received Android 14 since then. Android 15 will be their final major update.

The new update will come along with One UI 7, Samsung’s own Android 15-based interface. It will be released later this year. After that, these phones will no longer get any major Android updates.

Samsung promises two major Android updates for most of its mid-range and budget phones. With the launch of Android 15, Samsung will have fulfilled that promise for the A14 series.

While the A14 and A14 5G won’t get any new Android versions after this, Samsung isn’t cutting them off right away. The company will continue to offer security updates for two years. These protect the phone from bugs and security vulnerabilities. After those two years, support will be cut off completely.

This is par for the course for Samsung’s A series. It strikes a cost balance with forward-looking software updates. For users of low-end phones, two full Android updates and a few years’ worth of security patches is a fair bargain.

If you own a Galaxy A14 or an A14 5G, the Android 15 update will include fresh features, better performance, and design changes. However, if you care to run your phone on the current Android versions, then you can consider newer handsets in the future.

The Galaxy A14 series has been a budget go-to for most. Since it’s ending its update cycle, now is the best time to start thinking about your next smartphone.
