OnePlus is gearing up to launch its new Nord series smartphone. The new phone will probably be named the OnePlus Nord 5. It will replace the Nord 4, which was launched in July last year.
OnePlus Nord 5 May Launch Soon With Higher Battery Capacity and Fast Charging
A new entry on the TUV Rheinland certification page has given some significant details. The phone is listed with the model number CPH2079. Even though the name “Nord 5” isn’t mentioned explicitly, the listing belongs to OnePlus. This implies it is very likely that the phone is the next Nord device.
According to the listing, the Nord 5 will pack a gigantic 6,650mAh battery. That is quite a rise from the 5,500mAh battery in the Nord 4. That would mean increased battery life. The listing also mentions 80W fast charging. That’s the same rate the Nord 4 offers. But earlier leaks had said that the Nord 5 may also support 100W charging. The change could mean that there are differences across regions for charging speed.

The other details about the phone are out. The Nord 5 may be a rebrand of OnePlus Ace 5 Racing Edition. The model will arrive in China soon. The Ace 5 Racing Edition will run MediaTek’s new Dimensity 9400e chip. It may arrive with a 6.77-inch flat display and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
The phone must have a dual rear camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 2MP secondary lens. It could also have a 16MP front camera. The body can include a plastic frame to lower costs. There must be some difference between the global and Chinese models.
The Nord 5 also appeared on other certification platforms, like India’s BIS and the TDRA. This is further proof that an announcement is in the near future.
OnePlus Nord 4 was available at ₹29,999 (about $355) in India. The Nord 5 may have a similar price. With an increased battery and high-powered specs, it might be a great mid-range option. We expect OnePlus to announce officially within a few weeks.
