The Poco F7 Saga Continues: Certification Spotted

So, Poco’s 2025 lineup feels a bit… incomplete, doesn’t it? We’ve seen the impressive F7 Pro and F7 Ultra make their debut already. Which is great, of course. But it leaves us wondering about the standard, the vanilla Poco F7. Where has that one been? Rumors have been swirling, pointing towards a May reveal, and honestly, I think many of us have been keeping an eye out for concrete news.
Launch Getting Closer? Signs Point to Yes
Well, it looks like that wait might be shortening, perhaps significantly. News just popped up about the F7 snagging its IMDA certification over in Singapore. Now, for those who don’t follow this stuff obsessively (and who could blame you?), getting certified like this is usually a pretty strong signal that a launch isn’t far off at all. It’s often one of the final hurdles.
What’s also interesting are the model numbers listed in the certification: 25053PC47G for the global market and 25053PC47I presumably for India. This suggests a pretty wide release is planned right from the get-go, which is definitely good news for Poco fans outside of China.
The Redmi Connection: More Than Just a Rumor?
Now, this certification actually adds quite a bit of fuel to another persistent rumor, one that’s been making the rounds for a little while now. There’s been a lot of talk – strong suggestions, really – that the Poco F7 might essentially be a rebranded version of the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro. That phone was just announced in China last week.
And you know what? The model numbers really seem to back this theory up. The Redmi Turbo 4 Pro carries the model number 25053RT47C. Compare that to the Poco’s 25053PC47G/I we just saw. See the pattern? The main number sequence, 25053…47, is identical. The ending letter usually signifies the region (‘C’ for China, ‘G’ for Global, ‘I’ for India). And the letters in the middle? Well, ‘PC’ almost certainly points to Poco, just as it feels reasonable to assume ‘RT’ stands for Redmi. It looks like Xiaomi’s recent attempts to embed brand identifiers into model numbers might actually be working, making these connections a bit easier to spot. It all lines up rather neatly, perhaps too neatly?
What Specs Could We Expect (Fingers Crossed)?
So, if this rebranding theory holds water – and frankly, it looks pretty solid right now – what kind of phone are we actually looking at? Assuming the Poco F7 truly mirrors the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro for markets outside China, the potential spec sheet is… well, it’s quite something.
We’re likely talking about:
- A pretty large 6.83-inch AMOLED display. Resolution is pegged at 1280×2772, it should boast a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate, and potentially hit a very bright 3,200 nits peak.
- Under the hood, the powerhouse is expected to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset. That’s definitely stepping into high-performance territory.
- Memory and storage options look generous, too. Think possibilities like 12GB or maybe even 16GB of RAM, paired with storage options ranging from 256GB up to a full 1TB.
- Cameras? The setup sounds promising: a 50 MP main camera, importantly with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS is always a welcome sight!), alongside an 8 MP ultrawide, and a 20 MP sensor up front for selfies.
- And then there’s the battery. The Redmi Turbo 4 Pro packs a huge 7,550 mAh battery. That’s massive. Plus, it supports 90W wired charging for quick top-ups.

A Quick Word of Caution…
Okay, before we get too carried away dreaming about that giant battery, a little reality check might be needed. It’s become something of a familiar pattern, hasn’t it? Brands sometimes tweak specifications, often trimming battery capacity slightly, when bringing a phone from the Chinese market to a global audience. Why they do this… well, reasons vary. But I wouldn’t be entirely shocked if the final global Poco F7 ships with a battery that’s a tad smaller than its Chinese counterpart. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed they don’t shrink it too much, because 7,550 mAh sounds fantastic on paper. We’ll have to wait and see what Poco officially unveils, hopefully very soon.
