While buying a new smartphone, the camera is what people tend to check first. There are some users who prefer a good camera to a fast processor or extended battery life. In case you want to capture great photos, this list is for you. DxOMark has recently published its latest rankings of the best smartphone cameras until April 2025.

Huawei Takes the Lead
Huawei is taking the lead. Even after it was banned in the U.S. in 2019, the company continues to hold the top spot when it comes to camera capability. Huawei Pura 70 Ultra scored a very high 163 points. The score entails photo quality, zoom ability, and videography.
Google and Honor Right Behind
Second place goes to the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL with 158 points. Google phones are well-known for their excellent camera shots using software. The Honor Magic6 Pro is also 158 points. Both the phones deliver top-notch photos and videos.
Several other phones scored 157 points. They are:
- iPhone 16 Pro Max
- iPhone 16 Pro
- Huawei Mate 60 Pro+
- Oppo Find X8 Pro
- Oppo Find X7 Ultra
These devices are similar in quality and provide excellent camera experiences.
Samsung’s Surprising Spot
One of the surprises on the list is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Sporting very nice camera features, it ranked 29th and scored 146. This is lower than most would have expected for a phone that was promoted based on its camera.
Budget and Older Phones Still Hold Up
The latest Google Pixel 9a ranked 33rd with 143 points. A few of the older models, such as the iPhone 13 Pro Max and Galaxy S23 Ultra, still appear on the list, indicating that they remain good quality.
