Google Rolls Out Android Auto 14.2 Update, 14.3 Beta Already in Testing

Google is rolling out a new update for Android Auto. The stable version 14.2 has started to reach more users this week, although the rollout is moving a bit slower than usual.

If you’ve already updated to Android Auto 14.2, don’t expect anything huge. Just like past updates, there are no major new features or big visual changes. It’s mostly under-the-hood improvements to keep everything running smoothly.

Android Auto 14.3 Beta Is Also Here

While 14.2 is rolling out, Google has also launched the first beta for Android Auto 14.3. And guess what? It’s another small update with no big changes for users to notice.

9to5Google took a closer look at the new beta using its usual APK Insight tools. (Quick note: APK Insight is when 9to5Google decompile an app’s file to peek inside and see if there are any hidden clues about future features.) This time, there wasn’t much to find. No new big features are hiding under the surface — at least, not yet.

New Controls Spotted

Inside the Android Auto 14.3 beta, 9to5Google spotted a few new lines of code mentioning “Play,” “Stop,” and “Settings.” But they don’t reveal much by themselves.

These bits of code seem linked to something called “settingslib.” That suggests it could be part of a library Google is building for settings or maybe something to do with local media controls, like playing music stored on your phone. Still, there’s not enough info yet to say for sure.

As always, just because something shows up in an APK doesn’t mean it will ever make it into a final version. Google sometimes tests features that never get released.

Final Thoughts

For now, Android Auto 14.2 is rolling out slowly but surely, and Android Auto 14.3 is in early testing. Neither brings big new features, but they help keep Android Auto stable and ready for bigger changes in the future.

If you’re using Android Auto, just keep an eye on your updates. You might not see anything new right away, but your car’s software is quietly getting better behind the scenes.
