Whatsapp is enhancing voice and video calls. The improvements are aimed at making calls easier and safer for users. Some of the features are in progress in the Android beta version 2.25.10.16.

WhatsApp Tests New Call Features to Improve Privacy and Ease of Use

As reported by Wabetainfo, now, users have the option of muting the microphone before accepting the call. That means you can silence yourself even before you pick up the call. This is very helpful in busy areas. You do not have to rush to look for the mute button after answering the call. You can get ready on the call screen itself.

For video calls, there is an update for users. Users will be able to turn off the camera before accepting the call. That way one will not be caught on camera immediately. It is for times when you are not ready yet or don’t know who the caller is. It is an added relief to users.

The third new feature is the addition of emoji reactions during video calls. This makes it easier to respond using emoji while talking to someone. It is more entertaining for users. Instead of interrupting to tell the person to hold on, you can just tap the emoji button to react.

These innovations arrive at the same time that many users have been facing issues with spam and scam phone calls. There has been an increasing trend of receiving calls from strange and foreign numbers. These additional services can help restore a sense of safety and control for many users.

At the moment, the new tools are being piloted by a small group of users. If testing goes well, WhatsApp might make them available to everyone soon. However, not every testing feature is guaranteed to roll out.

Regardless, these changes demonstrate WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing user experience. With the introduction of enhanced privacy options, the application is changing with the demands of its users.

While waiting for the complete rollout, it is clear WhatsApp is shifting focus towards optimizing customer experience.
