Apple has delayed the launch of its upcoming smart home device. The release is now expected in 2026. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the delay is due to problems with Apple’s new Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence.

Apple Delays Smart Home Device to 2026 Due to Siri Issues

Apple viewed this device as a critical advancement in their smart home ecosystem management. They intended to take the market head-on with Amazon and Google’s smart home devices, i.e. Echo Show and Nest Hub respectively. The claimed features include a new 7 inches touchscreen, an upgraded interface, an AI assistant, and an operating system built from scratch. Apple wanted it to seamlessly blend into the house while also serving as an intuitive control center for peripheral devices.

Apple originally planned to launch the device in March 2025. Later, it was pushed to April or later in the year. Now, the company is reportedly considering a 2026 release. The main reason? Siri isn’t ready.

Over the summer, Apple announced updates to Siri. But development has been slower than expected. Some features are being rebuilt from scratch. Apple now plans to roll out those Siri improvements next year, which means the smart home device will have to wait.

This delay is disappointing for fans of Apple and smart home tech. Many users were excited to see Apple get more involved in this space. With rivals like Amazon and Google already offering smart displays, Apple’s late entry could hurt its chances to lead in the market.

Still, Apple seems focused on quality. Instead of rushing the product, the company wants to get everything right. That includes making sure Siri works well with the new device. Apple likely hopes that a smoother and more powerful experience will be worth the wait.

For now, fans will have to be patient. It may take until 2026 to see Apple’s smart home display in action.
