Apple is preparing to launch iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 for iPhones and iPads. A French website, iPhonesoft, has shared a list of devices expected to support the updates. If the list is correct, Apple will continue supporting older devices with its latest software.
iPhones That May Support iOS 19
The compatibility list includes both new and older iPhones. It’s the same list as the iOS 18. This includes:
- Latest Models: iPhone 16 series (iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max), iPhone 15 series (iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max), and iPhone 14 series (iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro Max).
- Older Generations: iPhone 13 series (iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max), iPhone 12 series (iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max), and iPhone 11 series (iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max).
Even older models, such as the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE (2nd generation or newer), are likely to be included.

iPads That May Support iPadOS 19
The iPadOS 19 compatibility list is also extensive, but one model might be left out. Apple is rumored to drop support for the iPad (7th generation) due to its A12 chip requirement.
Here’s the list of supported iPads:
- iPad Pro Models: iPad Pro (M4), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (3rd generation and later), and iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later).
- iPad Air Models: iPad Air (M2) and iPad Air (3rd generation and later).
- Standard iPads: iPad (8th generation and later).
- iPad Mini Models: iPad mini (5th generation and later).
When to Expect iOS 19 and iPadOS 19
Apple is likely to announce iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 during its WWDC 2025 event in June. The updates should roll out to the public in September 2025, alongside the new iPhone launch.
Apple’s decision to support older devices reflects its focus on durability and user satisfaction. If your device is on the list, you’ll enjoy the latest features without needing to upgrade.
