iQOO 15 Has Its Name Confirmed – To Launch Earlier

iQOO has just confirmed the name of its upcoming flagship phone. With the name set as iQOO 15, the recent rumors have been put to rest. As expected, the device will arrive as iQOO 15, skipping the number 14 entirely. This move is most likely due to tetraphobia, a cultural belief in some parts of Asia where the number 4 is associated with bad luck. While there are some brands like Xiaomi that tend to avoid this cultural thinking, the majority of Chinese brands skip the number 4.
iQOO 15 to Launch Shortly After Snapdragon 8 Elite 2
The timing of the announcement is earlier than usual, but now we can say that the iQOO 15 series teaser campaign has officially begun. The iQOO 13, for example, was unveiled in October last year and launched a month later. However, it’s easy to find the reason behind the earlier teaser. The new flagship is expected to feature Qualcomm’s next high-end chipset, rumored to be called the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. That processor is scheduled to debut on September 23. Qualcomm pushed its flagship SoC earlier to September, which is much earlier than the usual late October or early November launch schedule. With the early release, we expect OEMs to also launch new flagships earlier than usual.
Leaks from Digital Chat Station suggest that several smartphone brands, including iQOO, Xiaomi, Honor, and Realme, are all aiming to launch their next flagship models before October 1. iQOO’s early teaser campaign seems to support this claim. Although iQOO has not revealed the full specifications yet, it did announce a promotional event set for August 1 in Shanghai. Winners of a competition held during the event will receive a unit of the new iQOO 15.

Earlier leaks have given us some idea of what to expect from the device. It may come with a 6.85-inch QHD+ flat LTPO OLED display from Samsung, a 50 MP periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom, and an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor under the screen. Fast charging support could go up to 100W, and wireless charging might also be included.
All signs point to iQOO gearing up for a big launch in the coming weeks.
