Samsung is getting ready to unveil its latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, in 2026. Although the upgrade may not look all that promising at first, there are a couple of significant improvements that make it better for consumers. Perhaps the most substantial upgrade is a slightly bigger screen. The S26 Ultra will boast a 6.89-inch AMOLED display, which is slightly larger than the 6.86-inch panel of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The actual thing, though, isn’t really about the size itself, but how Samsung did it.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra: Thinner Bezels, Bigger Screen, Smart Design

Slimmer Bezels, Same Width

To fit in the larger screen without making the phone wider, Samsung has reduced the thickness of the bezels. The S25 Ultra had bezels measuring 1.2mm thick. The new S26 Ultra reduces this to just 1.15mm. Despite the larger screen, the phone still measures 77.6mm in width. That means that consumers are provided with a more immersive screen without giving up on comfort and convenience.

Brighter and More Efficient OLED Display

Samsung is also improving screen tech. The S26 Ultra will feature the company’s Color Filter on Encapsulation (CoE) OLED tech. This tech removes the standard polarizer layer and replaces it with a color filter and black pixel definition layer.

The result? A thinner and brighter display that uses less power too. While this doesn’t make the battery larger, it would improve battery life by making the display more power-efficient.

This same CoE OLED tech is even used in the new Galaxy Z Fold 7, showing Samsung’s focus on refining and making screens more efficient across its lineup.

Minor Design Adjustments, Same Camera Hardware

Samsung is not going to drastically change the overall design of the S26 Ultra. The camera hardware will hardly be changed from that of the S25 Ultra, including its current sensors. Samsung is said to be incorporating some software upgrades and small lens tweaks but the biggest leap—such as a rumored 200MP Sony sensor—is probably going to arrive with the Galaxy S27 Ultra.

Final Thoughts

While the Galaxy S26 Ultra does not represent a complete overhaul, its step-by-step upgrades to display size, technology, and tuning of design make it a fine upgrade. Brand fans can eagerly anticipate a better screen experience and ever-so-marginally improved performance—all in a familiar package.
