Samsung has unveiled its latest clamshell-style foldable phones—the Galaxy Z Flip7 and the more affordable Galaxy Z Flip7 FE. Both models come preloaded with One UI 8 based on Android 16, offering a range of new features and improvements, especially for the FlexWindow display.
Samsung Launches Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE: Slimmer, Smarter, and More Affordable Options
Galaxy Z Flip7: Slimmer Body, Bigger Battery
The Galaxy Z Flip7 makes big changes without increasing its size. In fact, it’s even slimmer than before. When folded, it measures 13.7mm, and 6.5mm when unfolded. Despite the smaller frame, it houses a 4,300mAh battery, an upgrade from the 4,000mAh unit in the Flip6.
Samsung has also upgraded both displays. The cover screen is now a 4.1-inch edge-to-edge Super AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,600 nits. That’s a major jump from the previous 3.4-inch screen. The cover display supports Google Gemini AI, a customizable Now Bar, and more apps than ever before. Samsung even added Vision Booster for better outdoor visibility.
Inside, the main display is now 6.9 inches. When folded, the Flip7 remains compact and easy to carry. A major engineering challenge was making this phone thinner. Samsung redesigned internal components and introduced a 30% thinner Armor FlexHinge.
Instead of sealing the bezels for water protection, Samsung waterproofed the internal parts. The phone uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and an Armor Aluminum frame, and it’s rated IP48 for dust and water resistance.
Powering the device is the new 3nm Exynos 2500 chip, paired with 12GB RAM and up to 512GB of storage. There’s no Snapdragon version this time. Thanks to the chip’s efficiency and the larger battery, Samsung claims up to 31 hours of video playback. The phone also supports 25W wired charging and wireless charging.
Camera Upgrades and Flex Tricks
The Flip7 features a 50MP main camera, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP internal selfie camera. It supports 10-bit HDR video, offering richer colors and real-time filter previews on the cover screen. Features like Auto Zoom and Zoom Slider make hands-free shooting easier using the half-folded device as a tripod.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE: Affordable, But Familiar
For those watching their budget, the Z Flip7 FE offers a cheaper alternative. It starts at $900, but comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. The design and hardware closely resemble the Z Flip6, including a 3.4-inch cover display and a 6.7-inch internal screen. The phone is powered by last year’s Exynos 2400 chip and has a 4,000mAh battery.

Cameras remain the same: 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and a 10MP selfie. However, the FE does not support HDR video. It’s also IP48-rated and comes in Black or White.
Pricing and Availability
Both phones are available for pre-order starting today, and will ship on July 25. Buyers also get a 6-month subscription to Google AI Pro, which includes 2TB of cloud storage.
