Samsung is going to bring a big change to its smartphone lineup in 2026. After releasing the Galaxy S25 Edge, the Korean manufacturer will supposedly drop the “Plus” model from the Galaxy S26 series. Instead, Samsung will offer three models: the Galaxy S26 Basic, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Samsung May Skip the Plus Model in 2026, Favor Galaxy S26 Edge Instead

Sources close to Samsung reveal that the Galaxy S26 is currently in development. The new series will have three models. They are titled Basic, Edge, and Ultra. The Edge model will be replacing the Plus model this time. It is a significant shift in Samsung’s strategy.

Low sales are the main reason why the Plus model has been discontinued. Samsung planned to sell 37.7 million units of the Galaxy S series last year. Among them, customers reserved only 6.7 million units for the Galaxy Plus. This number is much lower compared to the other models.

The Ultra model was the top seller, selling 17.4 million units. The base model followed, selling 13.6 million units. This shows that the Plus model is less attractive to customers.

Similar Moves by Apple

Samsung is not alone. Apple is also making a switch. The company will no longer produce the iPhone Plus series this year. It will be substituted with the iPhone 17 Air. This signals a trend where phone companies are focusing on unique, head-turning designs instead of big screens.

The Edge model is identified by its curved display and trendy look. Samsung may have to attract more buyers by offering a phone that is unique. This would allow Samsung to keep up with the competition in the competitive market.

No Official Confirmation Yet

Samsung has not officially announced these modifications. The Galaxy S26 Edge remains a rumor. Samsung has also not confirmed removing the Plus model. There is still time for things to change before the official launch.

What do you think about these possible changes? Would you get the Galaxy S26 Edge or would you prefer the Plus version? Let us know in the comments.
