OnePlus has confirmed that two new phones in the Ace 5 family will launch next week. These are the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing and the OnePlus Ace 5 Ultra. While the exact launch date is still unknown, many details have already been made public during a recent press event in China, held together with MediaTek.
Dimensity chips for top gaming performance
The main highlight of both devices is their use of MediaTek’s latest chipsets. The Ace 5 Racing will debut with the new Dimensity 9400e chip, making it the first phone in the world to feature it. The chip is a refined version of the Dimensity 9300 Plus, offering improved performance for gaming.
The Ace 5 Ultra will go one step further with the Dimensity 9400+, which is MediaTek’s most powerful chip right now. OnePlus says these devices are built for gamers, and both will support high frame rates and smooth gameplay.
Display and other details
Both models come with flat LTPS OLED displays. The Racing edition will have a 6.77-inch screen with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the Ultra model will have a slightly larger 6.83-inch display with the same resolution, but a higher refresh rate of 144Hz for even smoother motion.
In the camera department, both smartphones come with a 50 MP main camera on the rear, supported by an unknown second sensor. For selfies, they support a 16 MP shooter.
Battery life should be impressive. Both models will have a huge 7,000 mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging for the Racing version and 100W fast charging for the Ultra model.
In addition to the processor, the Ultra model will support up to 16 GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1 TB of UFS 4.0 storage. This is more than enough for heavy-duty users and gamers. For the OnePlus Ace 5 Racing version, there is no official information on its memory options at the moment. Nonetheless, with the flagship processor, large batteries, and smooth displays, the new Ace 5 phones target performance-focused users.
