Different subscription tiers have been available from platforms like YouTube that offer the ad-free experience, but now, YouTube Premium wants to offer one that is good for two people only.
This new subscription tier is now under testing in multiple regions around the world, and it is looking to give two users access to YouTube Premium without having to pay for the five-person family option that is more expensive.
YouTube Premium For 2? Now Under Testing
According to a report by 9to5Google (via MoneyControl), there is now a new tier from YouTube that is under testing in select countries outside the United States, and its main goal is still to share Premium to two users under a single payment method. However, while it looks to offer the Premium experience to more than one person, users no longer have to pay extra for the multi-user tier thanks to this tier.
This subscription tier caters to couples or pairs of friends or family members who want the experiences available on the paid subscription tier.
The new option is now live under YouTube’s experiments in France, Hong Kong, India, and Taiwan, which is slightly cheaper than the regular Family for multiple users.

Couples, Pairs May Soon Get Premium
According to the report, the Premium version for two persons in India costs Rs 219, but it has been speculated by 9to5Google that if the tier is offered in the US, it would be around $16 per month.
This is cheaper compared to the regular Family tier in the country, which currently costs $22.99, and it is also significantly more cost-effective than opting to get two individual plans that cost $11.99 per month each.
With this, pairs may opt for the subscription for two without accounting for other non-existent users.
YouTube Premium and What It Offers
Google is not new to experimenting with new features for its different products and services, with YouTube’s Premium subscription experiences also getting new features for users to enjoy that were first tested before being available.
At first, Picture-in-Picture (PiP) was only introduced as a test on the Premium tier, allowing users to have a floating mini-player on their screens that allows them to multitask. It was eventually added to the platform.
Moreover, there is also the previous “Premium Lite” tier, which offered a cheaper version of the YouTube Premium paid subscription that gave users a cost-effective option for their subscription. However, it was taken down almost two years ago following its limited release in select European countries, featuring only the ad-free YouTube experience but no offline downloads, background playback, or YouTube Music access.
While users have to pay, Premium has given YouTube users a chance to enjoy the many features that add improvements to their streaming experiences. However, not all people have the same dynamics in their families or groups, especially in what kind of services benefit their situation and preferences.
This new tier may be the answer to everyone’s needs.
