Xiaomi quickly collected good numbers with the SU7, its very first electric vehicle. With positive numbers, the brand was able to give the green light for its next lineup, the Xiaomi YU7 series. The company wants to further shake the segment with a new vehicle that leaves the sports segment of the SU7 for the SUV category. Ahead of the launch of the YU7 series, a filing with China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology revealed yet another new variant. The new variant comes with a single motor with an impressive driving range of 835 Km, which is really above the average in the EV segment. The new model will launch between June and July of this year, taking on the likes of the Tesla Model Y and Xpeng G7.

Xiaomi YU7 – New Variant Will Deliver Impressive Autonomy

The new variant of the Xiaomi YU7 has a very powerful electric motor able to deliver 235 kW or just over 315 horsepower. This is impressive, considering that the unoccupied vehicle already weighs about 2,315 kg. The company promises a remarkable energy efficiency of just 13.3 kWh per 100 km. That’s an impressive number, and one that could further boost the popularity of Xiaomi in the EV segment. After all, autonomy is still one of the main challenges, especially for brands that wish to enter other markets. For now, this isn’t the case with Xiaomi, which keeps operating in the domestic market.

Despite the powerful motor and excellent autonomy, the new Xiaomi YU7 doesn’t get a new makeover. It is the same car with a closed front grille, distinctive “water drop headlights,” and eye-catching daytime running lights. The upper portion of the headlight assembly is hollowed out to optimize airflow around the vehicle. The YU7 stands in the mid-size SUV category. Its dimensions are around 4,999 mm in length, 1,996 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height. It also features a generous wheelbase of 3,000 mm, promising ample interior space.

Premium Design and Comfortable Experience

The first photos of the interior suggest a comfortable cabin with premium design. It uses a two-tone color scheme that creates a visually appealing environment. The driver and passengers will benefit from a floating central control screen. There is also a panoramic head-up display that projects essential information like navigation and speed directly into the driver’s line of sight. It minimizes all the distractions.

The entire lineup will offer support to 800V high-voltage fast-charging technology. The specific charging details for the 835 km range are yet to be disclosed. The company has stated that another single-motor variant with an 820km range can gain 200km of range with just five minutes of charging under this technology.
