Galaxy S25 Boosts Samsung to New Heights This Quarter

April 30, 2025
Samsung just had a record-breaking first quarter in 2025. Thanks to strong Galaxy S25 sales, the company made more money than ever before in a single quarter.
From January to March, Samsung earned KRW 79.14 trillion (about $55.7 billion). That’s a 10% jump compared to the same time last year. Its operating profit was KRW 6.7 trillion ($4.7 billion), which is around 1.5% higher than last year.
Galaxy Phones Lead the Way
Samsung’s mobile business, popularly known as Mobile eXperience made a total of KRW 37 trillion ($26 billion) in sales. In total, it made a profit of KRW 4.3 trillion ($3 billion). Services like the Galaxy AI are a strong contributing factor due to their strong demand. The company also managed its cost control well, leading to good profits. In some parts, the company also lowered prices of its products, leading to an increase in demand.
Samsung wants to keep this momentum going. But the next quarter may be harder due to slower phone sales during this time of year. To boost sales, Samsung plans to release the Galaxy S25 Edge on May 13 in Korea and May 30 internationally.
Samsung also confirmed it’s bringing its AI features to cheaper phones. The new “Awesome Intelligence” will come to the Galaxy A series soon.
Chips Business Faces Challenges
Samsung’s DS (Device Solutions) division, which makes chips and memory, earned KRW 25.1 trillion ($17.6 billion). But profits were down. That’s because chip prices dropped, and AI chip sales slowed due to export restrictions.
Looking Ahead
Samsung says it’s hard to predict what will happen next. The world economy is slowing down, and global trade tensions are rising. If things improve, Samsung expects better results in the second half of 2025. However, things could even turn out worse if trade tensions are not eased. Business transactions between countries have slowed down massively, due to tariffs imposed by the U.S government, and this has affected many businesses, including Samsung. Samsung has the potential to see more boost in its businesses if such tensions ease.
