Motorola had a rough start in the foldable smartphone market with its first RAZR smartphones. However, the company learned from its mistakes and managed to revamp this particular business with its latest releases. Today, the brand is here to officially reveal the new Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra and RAZR 60. The Ultra gets the spotlight being a true flagship of 2025 with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. The device has other nice upgrades that make it Motorola’s most interesting foldable to date. The Razr 60, on the other hand, keeps its focus on being more affordable.

Interestingly, Motorola is dropping the “Razr+ 2025” in the US, and the Ultra will be simply sold as Motorola Razr Ultra.

Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra

The Motorola RAZR 60 Ultra features a new display with improvements, bigger battery, camera enhancements and flagship performance. Gone are the “S” chipsets as Motorola equips it with the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

The Ultra now comes with IP48 certification. The “4” stands for ingress protection from larger particles. The body is a bit thicker than its predecessor with 7.2mm unfolded and and 15.7mm, up from 7.1mm/15.3mm. It is also a bit heavier, with 199 grams up from 189g.

These little sacrifices are made to bring a 700 mAh increase in battery capacity to 4,700 mAh. That’s a considerable increase that certainly makes a difference at the end of the day. For sure, users won’t bother having a little more thickness and weight to get an almost 1,000 mAh increase in battery.

Better Displays

The panel brings a 4-inch P-OLED cover display with Gorilla Glass Ceramic coating. It’s a high-quality LTPO display with up to 165Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colors, and 100% DCI-P3 coverage. The outdoor visibility is aided by the 3,000 nits peak brightness. The outdoor visibility is good with 3,000 nits peak brightness.

The main display is a bit larger, with 7 inches and the same 22:9 aspect ratio. The new model has a 1224p+ resolution, up from 1080p+. The increase bumps pixel density to 464ppi (up from 413ppi). It is an LTPO panel with up to 165Hz refresh rate. The peak brightness is 4,000 nits, which is a great increase, and the phone has 120% DCI-P3 coverage.

As we’ve said before, finally, we get true flagship performance on the Motorola RAZR series. The device comes with the Snapdragon 8 Elite working at full speed. It is paired with 16 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512 GB UFS 4.0 storage. Some regions will get a 1 TB option exclusively from Motorola.com. The phone comes with Android 15 straight out of the box.

Great Camera Setup

In terms of optics, the phone has a 50 MP main camera with PDAF, OIS, and Pantone Validated Color and Skin colors. It can do 8K video recording at 30fps or 4K at 60fps. The device also has a 50 MP ultrawide module that doubles as a macro camera. Gone is the 2x telephoto shooter in favor of the ultrawide snapper.

While you can take amazing selfies with the main camera, using the cover display as a viewfinder, there is still an inner selfie camera with 50 MP.

Going for smart feature, the Ultra supports Android’s digital car key feature. It works with select BMW and Mini models over NFC and UWB. Another new addition is the support for Dolby Vision (both playback and recording). Dolby Atmos is also available for the phone’s stereo speakers.

The phone sells in four Pantone colors: Rio Red, Scarab, Mountain Trail, and Cabaret.

Motorola RAZR 60

The Motorola RAZR 60 (this one still sold as Motorola RAZR 2025 in US), has a more modest set of upgrades. However, it preserves its status as an affordable flip foldable. It borrows the IP48 rating from the Ultra. It offers protection against dust and can survive being submerged under 1.5m of water.

The vanilla model has a smaller cover display, however, its 3.6-inch screen still makes it bigger than other competitors like the Z Flip6. The main display is a 6.9-inch P-OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.

The RAZR 60 supports Dimensity 7400X, which is a mild upgrade over the 7300X inside last year’s model. Moto highlights a 15% improvement in AI performance. It also increased the RAM capacity with options ranging from 8 GB, 12 GB, and 16 GB. The storage starts at 128GB and goes up to 512 GB. Exclusive models will offer even 1 TB.

The battery capacity also gets a nice upgrade from 4,200mAh on the Razr 50 to 4,500mAh on the new RAZR 60. The charging system is the same, with modest 30W charging and 15W wireless charging.

The camera system brings a 50 MP main module with OIS and a 13 MP ultrawide shooter. The selfie camera is built into the inner display with a 32 MP selfie snapper.

Pricing and Availability

In the US, both Motorola RAZR models are going on pre-order on May 7, with availability for unlocked models set for May 15. Select carriers will also have units on the 15th. Pricing for the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra/or RAZR Ultra starts at $1,300. The vanilla will sell for $700. In Canada, pre-orders begin on May 7 for the Ultra. The vanilla pre-orders begin on May 15th. The Razr Ultra will arrive later on June 3. In the UK, the Razr 60 Ultra is £1,100 for a 16/512GB unit (the only option available).

Curiously, the brand is also revamping the old RAZR+ from 2024 with an IP48 rating and an enhanced hinge.
