Samsung is launching the Galaxy M56, a thin mid-range smartphone arriving on April 23 in India. While the flagship Galaxy S25 Edge is arriving later this year, the M56 is already gaining buzz for being the slimmest phone in its class.
Samsung Galaxy M56 Launches April 23 – Slim, Feature-Packed, and Affordable
The M56 is just 7.2mm thick and weighs 180g. For comparison, the Galaxy A56 is 7.4mm thick and weighs 198g. The predecessor M55 was 7.8mm thick but shared the same weight as the two. All three phones have 6.7-inch displays and 5,000mAh batteries.
The 6.74-inch Super AMOLED+ display on the M56 is a highlight. It is 33% brighter and has 36% thinner bezels than the M55. It has 1080p+ resolution and a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate.
Internally, the phone is driven by the Exynos 1480 chipset, which launched last year. It’s not as fast as the newer Exynos 1580 on the A56, but it still acquits itself well. The processor is built on a 4nm process and has AMD RDNA 2 graphics. It also boasts a larger vapor chamber—33% larger than the M55—for better cooling.
The M56 comes with 8GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. There is no microSD card slot, but there is dual SIM and 5G support (bands: 1, 3, 5, 8, 28, 40, 41, 78). It also has Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and a USB Type-C port. No NFC, unfortunately.
The camera setup is versatile. It features a 50MP main camera with OIS and 4K video at 30fps with 10-bit HDR. It lacks a telephoto lens, but the main camera features 2x in-sensor zoom. At the back are also an 8MP ultra-wide and a 2MP macro camera. The front camera is 12MP.
It comes with Samsung’s Galaxy AI capabilities. They help with photo editing, object removal, and creating clip art.

Battery life is decent, with a 5,000mAh battery and quick 45W charging. The phone is wrapped in Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front and rear. Samsung says it is four times more scratch-resistant than the M55 and will survive drops from 2 meters.
The M56 will get six years of software and security updates, until 2030. It comes in Light Green and Black and will retail for ₹25,000 (about $295 / €260) on Amazon India.
