Google and Samsung may be close partners in various developments especially in the Android space, but the South Korean tech company has avoided support for the Seamless Updates feature but that is changing now for the Galaxy S25. It has been almost a decade since Android introduced this Seamless Updates feature which allowed users to easilycarry out an update without the longer wait times for its installation.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Gets Android’s Seamless Updates
The Inware app (via 9to5Google) shared that it found new evidence that the Samsung Galaxy S25 series now supports Android’s renowned Seamless Updates, making it the first for the Galaxy S series to adopt. For some reason, Samsung held off adopting the feature for their entire smartphone lineup despite Google releasing the feature to Android almost a decade ago.
That being said, Samsung broke the ice in early 2024 with the release of the Galaxy A55 as the company adopted support for the Seamless Updates feature but was exclusive to the smartphone.
More notably, Samsung did not share the feature with the Galaxy S24 series after it offered support on the Galaxy A55, and the company also skipped adding it to their foldables that were released later in the year, the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6.

How Does Seamless Updates Work For Galaxy S25?
Seamless Updates for Android will work the same way for the Galaxy S25, and it offers a way to simplify and somewhat speed up the process of downloading and installing a software update for the device.
It works by automatically downloading the update in the background and installing it while the device remains usable. After which, it would prompt for a quick reboot to complete the update, as opposed to the previous background downloads, and then initiate the reboot process by installing the update and then restarting which takes longer times.
Galaxy S25 and Its Android 15 Features Coming
Samsung has already designated January’s Galaxy Unpacked event to be the Galaxy S series’ dedicated showcase, and for 2025, the South Korean tech giant gave the world its latest Galaxy S25. However, it is important to note that looks-wise, there were not many changes coming from the Galaxy S24 series, but the company focused on massive software advancements and its new ‘agentic’ AI.
Moreover, Samsung also features the latest Android 15 operating system from Google which was released late last year, and not only will it run on the latest OS version via OneUI 7, but it is also set to deliver new features as per the Mountain View tech giant. Gemini is getting a massive spotlight on the Galaxy S25 where users will have more options to bring up the AI, with a new dedicated sports and directions update on S25’s Now Bar, Circle to Search improvements, and more.
Despite Samsung masking Android 15 under OneUI’s renowned look, the operating system’s spirit is still felt and seen with the latest Galaxy S25 series, and Google is filling it with massive features to enjoy. One of these is the Seamless Updates in Android which has long been awaited by Samsung users, especially those in the S series, to no longer worry about software updates as the process is made easier and faster.
