Samsung Galaxy S25 to offer smaller memory models in Europe

Samsung is reportedly planning to release a 128 GB version of the Galaxy S25 with 12 GB of RAM exclusively for European markets. This storage configuration lags behind the 256 GB entry-level models expected in other regions, raising concerns about Samsung’s market strategy for Europe. A leak from Vietnamese retailers posted by @chunvn8888 suggests that European customers will receive a basic version of the Galaxy S25 with 128 GB of storage. However, other markets will get the 256GB model as the standard. This disparity has sparked disappointment among European Samsung fans, particularly as smartphone storage needs continue to grow.

Uneven memory configurations

Reports indicate Samsung might offer a free memory upgrade as a pre-order incentive, possibly aiming to boost initial sales in Europe. However, this strategy does little to address the underlying frustration over unequal treatment between markets.

Despite the storage limitation in Europe, there is some positive news. All Galaxy S25 models will feature at least 12 GB of RAM, marking a significant upgrade over the S24 series. The flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra is rumoured to include up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, appealing to power users seeking top-tier performance.

The Galaxy S25 series is expected to come with higher price tags than its predecessor. Leaked pricing information suggests an increase of €60 to €105 for European models. The base Galaxy S25 could start at €964.90, while the premium S25 Ultra may cost as much as €1,557.90.

Samsung plans to officially unveil the Galaxy S25 series on January 22, 2025. Deliveries are anticipated to begin in early February. Pre-order customers will potentially be receiving their devices by the third week of February.

Strategic decisions under scrutiny

Samsung’s plan to give Europe less storage stands apart from what other areas will get. Some think this could be due to old chips or a way to boost early buys. Still, this move might upset users in Europe, who are used to more base storage in top-tier phones. The Galaxy S25 line has big upgrades, like better RAM and high-end setups. Yet, the gap in storage remains a key concern for Samsung’s plan in Europe.
