OpenAI has introduced a new feature for ChatGPT called ‘Tasks’. This feature is currently in beta testing. It allows ChatGPT to function like a personal digital assistant, helping you manage reminders, notifications, and other alerts.

With Tasks, ChatGPT is becoming more proactive in assisting users. Instead of just answering questions, it can now take action based on your needs. For example, it can send you daily reminders like a weather forecast at 7 AM. Or, it can remind you to renew your library books every month. It can even alert you about important events, like your coworkers’ birthdays, so you never forget.

But Tasks does more than just handle reminders. It also offers suggestions based on your conversation. If you mention an upcoming trip, ChatGPT can remind you to pack your passport, arrange a dog sitter, or check out the view from your hotel. These suggestions are only activated if you approve them. This ensures that you remain in control of the tasks ChatGPT suggests.

Currently, the Tasks feature is only available on the web version of ChatGPT. You can manage tasks across devices, as notifications for completed tasks will appear on both your computer and phone. This makes it easy to stay on top of things no matter where you are.

Users can create up to 10 active tasks at a time. You can edit or cancel them whenever you need. This flexibility allows you to adjust your reminders as your schedule changes.

Overall, this new feature brings ChatGPT one step closer to being a full digital assistant. By managing reminders and offering helpful suggestions, it can reduce the mental load of planning and help improve your productivity.
