Google is making big changes to its mid-range Pixel 9a smartphone. Leaked images of the device, expected to launch soon, reveal a fresh new design and upgraded features.
Google Pixel 9a: A Bold Redesign and Exciting Upgrades
Photos shared on X show the Pixel 9a from both the front and back. The front display has an in-display selfie camera, flat edges, and thin bezels. These changes give it a sleek and modern appearance.
The biggest design shift is on the back. Unlike the Pixel 8a’s curved design, the Pixel 9a has a rounded chassis and a textured finish. The horizontal camera bar from earlier models is gone. Instead, the Pixel 9a uses an oval-shaped camera module. This houses two camera sensors and an LED flash.
Improved Display and Performance
The Pixel 9a comes with a larger 6.3-inch display. It supports an adaptive refresh rate from 60Hz to 120Hz. This is an upgrade from the 6.1-inch, fixed refresh rate display on the Pixel 8a.

The device will be powered by the Tensor G4 chip, the same processor in the flagship Pixel 9 series. This ensures smooth performance for apps, gaming, and multitasking. It will also include 8GB of RAM, with storage options of 128GB or 256GB.
Longer Battery Life
Battery life is set to improve with a 5000mAh battery, up from the 4492mAh capacity in the Pixel 8a. However, charging speeds remain the same. The phone will offer 18W wired charging and 7.5W wireless charging.
Camera Updates
The Pixel 9a will feature a 48-megapixel main camera, borrowed from the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. This replaces the 64-megapixel sensor found in the Pixel 8a. The change focuses on improved image quality and better performance in real-world use.
What to Expect
With its new design, larger display, and better performance, the Pixel 9a is shaping up to be a strong mid-range contender. It offers a fresh look and valuable upgrades, appealing to users looking for a premium experience without a premium price tag.
The Pixel 9a is expected to launch in the coming months, and anticipation is already building.
