Meizu is still around in the smartphone business despite all the constraints it faced in the past years. The company was acquired by the electric car maker Geely, and that allowed the brand to keep a soft presence in the smartphone market. We don’t see Meizu competing with the big ones like it did several years ago. However, it is always around with some timely releases, especially for the budget smartphone segment. Today, Meizu has unveiled the Meizu mBlu 21. It’s a low-end smartphone made for those who enjoy FlymeOS and want a decent experience for moderate usage.

Meizu mBlu 21 Specifications and Features

The Meizu mBlu 21 features a 6.79-inch IPS LCD screen with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The display also sports a punch-hole cutout for the 8 MP front-facing shooter. It’s nice to see this design with a punch-hole regardless of the phone’s low-end nature. Usually, budget smartphones use the cheaper waterdrop notch. Of course, judging by the renders the device has thick bezels and a large chin.

Moving around to the back, we have an oval-shaped camera island that houses two modules. There is a primary 13 MP camera and a 2 MP depth helper alongside the LED flash module. Meizu is not concerned with offering megapixels here, just the basic package that will serve for basic shots.

Under the hood, we have the low-end’s favorite Unisoc T606 chipset with its 8 (2 + 6) x ARM Cortex-A55 Cores clocked at 1.6 GHz. It’s a modest chipset for basic app usage, social media, and casual games should play fine on this. The handset sells in two variants with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB Storage, and 6 GB RAM with 128 GB of Internal Storage. Fortunately, you can expand the storage further with a micro SD card.

On the software front, the smartphone runs Android 14 with FlymeOS running atop. It has a 4,900 mAh battery but unfortunately, there is no mention of any kind of fast charging. We assume it will charge via regular 10W or 15W charging. In the best scenario, we have 18W charging, but we need to wait for confirmation.

The Meizu mBlu 21 sells in Black, White, and Blue colors. The device is on sale for RUB 9,990 ($95) making it an attractive choice for consumers. It is on open sale in black, white, and blue colors from Aliexpress.
