After months of speculation, Xiaomi has confirmed the launch of its next-gen foldable— MIX Flip 2 —scheduled for next week. The news came directly from Lu Weibing, Xiaomi President, during a press briefing that emphasized how far the company has come in the foldables category.
This marks a key milestone for Xiaomi’s foldable ambitions, with the MIX Flip 2 poised to compete head-to-head with premium flat-screen flagships. According to Lu, this model represents three years of focused R&D, driven by user feedback and a relentless push to eliminate pain points like display creasing, thermal limits, and battery compromises.
Refined Folding, Serious Specs, and Leica on Board
From what we know so far, the MIX Flip 2 isn’t just an iterative update—it’s a full-blown upgrade. Xiaomi has packed in a 6.85-inch 1.5K LTPO foldable display, accompanied by a larger-than-expected external screen. The battery capacity sits between 5050 and 5100mAh, making it one of the largest in its class. Note also that it supports 50W wireless charging.
Camera-wise, Xiaomi is sticking with its Leica co-branding, promising pro-grade optics. Expect a dual 50MP setup, anchored by a 1/1.5-inch primary sensor and a 1/2.76-inch ultra-wide—solid specs for a flip-style foldable.
Additional features include:
- IPX8 water resistance
- Side-mounted fingerprint sensor
- Full-size NFC support
- Pre-installed HyperOS
If the design matches the hardware, this could be Xiaomi’s most polished foldable yet. They’ve also worked to reduce the display crease and improve thermal performance. These were surely, two pain points often mentioned with first-gen flip phones.
Pre-Orders Now Live, Expectations Rising
The MIX Flip 2 is now available for pre-order via Xiaomi Mall. While official pricing hasn’t been announced yet, Xiaomi is clearly aiming for the upper-tier of the foldable market. With expanded color options and a push toward customizations, this release is shaping up to be more than a niche product.
If Xiaomi delivers on what it’s promised, the MIX Flip 2 may not just be a follow-up—it could be a reset for how the brand competes in the premium foldables race.
