Elon Musk’s DOGE Reportedly Uses Customized Version of Grok AI, Raising Alarm

A new report has claimed that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which Elon Musk has been heavily involved in, is using xAI’s Grok AI chatbot.

This was revealed by anonymous sources, who claim that operations over at DOGE are now relying on a version of the Grok AI chatbot, giving it significant access to US government data.

This latest information is currently raising alarm as Grok AI may be given access to US government data that are potentially confidential and sensitive.

A new report from Reuters reveals that unnamed sources have come forward to reveal that DOGE is allegedly using the Grok AI chatbot as part of their efforts to audit and analyze the United States government. It was revealed that the watchdog department is using a custom-made version of Grok AI that adheres to their needs and requirements.

Some of the responsibilities that Grok AI has reportedly includes analyzing and sorting of data which DOGE is evaluating.

Through Grok AI, DOGE reportedly has assistance in going through humongous information to help them assess a specific agency, with the team also speculated to be using the chatbot to prepare reports, according to the sources.

Grok AI Use for DOGE Raises Alarm

This use of Grok AI by DOGE is now raising alarm due to the significant privacy concerns that xAI has, especially now that it seems that Grok has access to US government data.

Not only that, this also puts Musk at the center of another conflict of interest issue, with Reuters claiming that it is a potential criminal transgression of federal regulations.

DOGE and Grok AI Controversies

Musk has since been at the center of controversies for many years now, more so after getting involved with DOGE. One specific concern involved DOGE and Musk’s “Wall of Receipts” that allegedly misreported $8 million savings as $8 billion instead.

On the other hand, another of Musk’s works, Grok AI, has been plagued with issues and problems since it launched almost two years ago, particularly for its significant hallucinations and inaccurate generations. Grok AI’s parent company, xAI, has also been criticized for getting significant access to X user data for AI training. The company has since given users an option to prevent it.
