Apple Brings a ‘Viral’ Playlist to Apple Music, Shazam That Offers a Quick View of Daily Top Tracks

Discovering the new hype songs all over the internet would normally take a few steps on platforms, but Apple wants to change that on Apple Music and Shazam with the latest “Viral” playlist feature.

This list of daily top tracks offers the latest for users to discover and stream on the platform, and it is powered by Shazam’s service that accumulates the data from the public.

Usually, viral songs that are collated in a playlist by different streaming platforms only refer to the data on their app, meaning that they only note the music trending based on their user’s listening activity, but this latest Apple feature goes beyond that.

Apple Brings ‘Viral’ Playlist to Apple Music, Shazam

An Apple Music UK employee, David Emery, has shared a new feature drop (via The Verge) from Apple now made available to Apple Music and Shazam, and it offers a quicker way to discover viral songs all over the world.

This is called the “Viral Chart'” playlist, and it contains the viral songs that are searched and streamed globally based on real world data.

The new feature centers directly on Shazam’s Viral Charts that offer a view of the real-time songs that are trending on the music discovery app.

According to Emery, users will get daily updates from Shazam’s Viral Charts that they may easily stream via Apple Music, and this feature connects users more to the experience of the top tracks worldwide.

In addition to this, users may also explore the top tracks in different countries and other categories to better their search for new titles to enjoy.

Apple Music and Shazam’s Experiences

From planting its roots with iTunes, Apple has greatly expanded the music listening experience on its platforms like the iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and more through the Apple Music service. Apart from the improvements centered directly for the platform, Apple has also included Apple Music updates on iOS versions, with the recent one replacing Browse with the “New” tab that improves discovery for iOS 18.

On the other hand, the music identifying platform of Apple, Shazam, has greatly improved over the years to offer more than the discovery of songs that users hear in public or by humming it to the app. Apple gave users more information about a song they identified including the nearby concerts relating to their search queries and more.

Apple has greatly improved Apple Music over the years to take its place among the top music streaming platforms in the world, with many intuitive features made available to enjoy the experience on various platforms, like the now-monthly Replay, SongShift imports, and others. Many have also noted Apple’s algorithm for its music streaming platform.
