Which Apple Products May Be Affected Now That Trump’s China Tariff is at 125%?

Many companies will suffer from the drastic effects of President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imports, including Apple. For many years, China has been Apple’s biggest partner in technological developments, especially in manufacturing, but recently, Trump’s tariffs against Beijing have skyrocketed to 125%.

It is also worth noting that despite the US president issuing a 90-day pause on these tariffs, China is excluded from this list.

Which Apple Products May Be Affected by Trump Tariffs?

According to a report by 9to5Mac, Apple may have diversified its supply chain and manufacturing plants to different parts of Asia, but its biggest operations still center in China at present. With the massive tariffs imposed against Beijing, Apple’s products are expected to have a significant price increase, and this may apply to different devices soon.

For the iPhones, the new iPhone 16e and the current iPhone 16 series, including its base, Plus, Pro, and Pro Max variants, are expected to be affected because of their Chinese manufacturing.

iPad models, including the Classic, mini (7th generation), M3 Air’s 11-inch and 13-inch, and the M4 Pro’s 11-inch and 13-inch variants, are also expected to undergo a price increase.

Lastly, Mac computers, such as the M4 mini and M4 Pro, iMac M4, MacBook Air M4’s 13 and 15-inch, and the MacBook Pro M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max variants, are also in danger.

Trump’s Tariffs for China Is Now at 125%

That being said, while the AirPods and Apple Watches are not affected by the 125% tariffs because they are not made in Mainland China, they are still set to be affected by tariffs slapped on Vietnam, where they are manufactured.

When Trump’s tariffs took effect, it started with a base 20% tax against China, which rose to 54% and later to 104%. As of press time, it has been set to 125%.

President Trump’s Import Tariffs vs. Tech

Reports have claimed that Apple is now rushing to stockpile iPhones in the US from their plants in China and India to potentially avoid the tariffs, but the company cannot avoid them forever as they have products set for release in the future.

It is not only prices that these Trump tariffs are affecting, particularly as many tech companies and manufacturers are already adjusting their releases in the United States to deal with these massive changes. Nintendo previously claimed that the company had to delay the release of its next-gen console, the Switch 2, because of the import tariffs that also include Japan.

There are also tech and gaming companies that are now opting to halt the sales of their devices in the United States for an unknown period as they try to avoid these tariffs. The likes of Framework, Razer, and more have chosen to stop the sales of their products in the US, while automotive companies like Jaguar Land Rover, Audi, and Stellantis halted their shipments to the country.
