Samsung’s rumored “G Fold” device is reportedly arriving soon, debuting a never-before-seen tri-fold phone from the company that will not be available globally.
A triple-fold smartphone is no longer new in the market as China’s Huawei has released the world’s first with last year’s Mate XT device.
Samsung G Fold Tri-Fold Phone Is Not Releasing Globally
A news publication website called Smartprix has discovered a new development behind the rumored Samsung G Fold smartphone, with the report claiming that it already has a planned release date for this year. But the most eye-catching detail in their report is that Samsung will reportedly not opt for a global release of this new tri-fold device as it would only be available in two countries.
According to Smartprix’s report, this was discovered directly from the GSMA database, which only listed two model numbers meant for the two regions.
This latest listing points out to the G Fold being a legitimate device from Samsung, and it is reported that the South Korean tech giant will release their version of the tri-fold possibly by fall.

The report revealed the two model numbers for Samsung’s G Fold found on the database. The model number “SM-F968N” is meant for the South Korean market, with the “N” code representing the East Asian nation.
On the other hand, the other model number is listed as “SM-F9680,” with the “0” code representing China.
Both model numbers are listed as “Q7M,” which is its official market name.
The Evolution of Foldable Smartphones
The first foldable smartphone in the market debuted a book-style foldable phone which features a curvy screen that can fold outward, and this was made by China’s Royole with the FlexPai device. This sparked the massive interest in foldable smartphones with Samsung immediately following the trend with another book-style foldable called the Galaxy Z Fold, which faced issues with its screens.
Later on, it was followed by Motorola’s revival of the famed RAZR lineup, bringing the flip phones to the era of smartphones and featuring a fully-touchscreen interface that runs on the Android operating system.
Many companies continued the massive trend, but they are all running on the Android operating system as Apple has yet to bring its foldable to the market despite the massive rumors behind their development.
However, Huawei changed it up again last year when it debuted a triple-fold smartphone amidst a time when the global market is still getting used to two-fold devices and is growing its adoption.
