The wait for Apple’s official release for Siri’s upgrades introduced at WWDC 2024 just got longer as it has been officially delayed by the company until next year.
As what the rumors have pointed out, it will be available via iOS 20. The original plans from Apple initially said that these features will arrive via iOS 18.
After facing many hardships in its development, the company is now expecting that it will be able to deliver this “more personalized” version of its AI assistant to the public after two years since it was revealed.
Apple’s ‘More Personalized’ Siri Is Officially Delayed to 2026
According to the recent statement shared by Apple’s spokesperson, Jacqueline Roy, to Daring Fireball’sreport (via 9to5Mac), the expected Siri upgrades that offer the “more personalized” version of the chatbot are “coming next year.”
The unfortunate takeaway from this confirmation is that the company will not be able to release this specific version this year via the iOS 19 upgrade, and Roy revealed that they faced unexpected delays in its development.
Per the statement, Roy revealed that Apple did not expect that it will take them longer than expected to deliver on some of the promised features for Siri’s awaited upgrade.

The good thing is that Roy also revealed what kind of features are expected from Siri next year, and this includes the demo feature unveiled during WWDC 2024, which centers on the “personalized” features of Siri.
The contextually aware Siri is one of the top features the company revealed alongside onscreen awareness. In addition, the capability to take action on in-app activity that would allow users to ask Siri to perform certain tasks for them on a specific app are expected to arrive next year as well.
The Siri Smarter Upgrade Is Significantly Challenging
The WWDC event last year 2024 gave the world a preview of what Siri has to offer its users, particularly as the AI assistant has been left behind by its competitors over the years. It was an exciting round of announcements for Apple’s Siri as these features that were announced looked promising.
Despite the massive announcements of Apple, Siri’s next-generation upgrade was absent when the Cupertino-based tech giant released iOS 18, and the company did not immediately address the situation to users.
It was its Senior Vice President of software engineering, Craig Federighi, who talked about Siri’s upgrade facing delays, confirming that the “smart” and upgraded version will take some time before it arrives.
Now, users are left to wait for what Apple has to offer for its AI assistant.
