Gemini 2.0 is expanding, and Google is ramping up its AI experiences with a new feature under testing. Instead of getting webpage results and other types of content when you use Google Search, the feature will feed you “AI-only” results.
Google Gemini 2.0 Tests ‘AI-Only’ Search Results For Users
There is now a feature under testing that may transform the search engine experience as users will be given results that are AI-only. This latest feature was recently announced by Google as part of its grand plans to expand AI Overviews, and it summarizes the search results, giving information and context about what one is looking for.
Search’s AI Overviews may soon get a new feature called the “AI Mode,” which is the one that is currently under testing from Google.
According to the company, the AI Mode offers AI-powered responses to users which will focus on sharing generated information from the websites or pages that its search engine crawled.

Currently, Google’s AI Overviews only appeared on top of the results’ first page, right below the text field.
However, this new AI Mode that the company is testing revamps the experience by offering the summary of all the results into one article-like format, like what one would usually see when talking to a chatbot.
AI Search Is Becoming More Common
2024 introduced the era of AI search in the tech industry, and it delivered certain experiences that is changing the landscape for users. Google introduced AI-powered search last year when it introduced AI Overviews, with the technology facing mixed reviews because of its fabricated information that had it benched for quite some time before being released again.
Soon, other companies debuted their new experiences that integrate generative AI into the search feature, with OpenAI following with ChatGPT’s Search capabilities. Last December, the company made ChatGPT Search available for the public to access for free and without any limits.
Other companies have also looked to integrate generative AI to their search features with the likes of Meta, Microsoft, Perplexity, and more joining the fray.
