Amazon Alexa+ AI Upgraded With New Features: Set Routines, Analyze Documents, and More

Amazon has announced new features for Alexa+, which got an AI upgrade.

The company’s Devices & Services event detailed what is new with the assistant, and it is packed with huge features to enjoy.

Alexa+ Is Here: Amazon’s AI Upgrade

Amazon went out with a massive showcase for its AI assistant, with Alexa+ taking center stage during their recent event.

Alexa+ offers a more conversational AI to users, with natural language understanding that makes it a breeze to interact with. Amazon claims its goal is to make the assistant “feel genuine.” The more Alexa+ is used, the more personal the experience will be, as it can learn from tasks and other prompts from its owners.

Tasks are also improved for Alexa+ as it can carry out activities such as making calendar plans, assisting in travel, and helping users to study.

Users may also set “Routines” with Alexa+ that offer automation at any given time or day, including the ability to move music to other rooms, give summaries of Ring camera footage, or find a specific scene in movies or shows via Fire TV.

Additionally, users may share documents with Alexa+ and forward emails to the assistant, which it can analyze and remember. Users may ask for a recap or have it run down information.

Soon, Alexa+ may also generate stories for your kids, book restaurant or Uber reservations, and share recommendations, according to 9to5Google.

Alexa+ is available for $19.99 per month, but it comes free with a Prime subscription, according to Amazon.

Amazon Alexa and Generative AI

For many years, Alexa has remained dominant as one of the top AI voice assistants in the tech industry against tough rivals like Apple’s Siri and Google’s Assistant. Despite its success, Amazon still has massive plans to improve the assistant.

Last year, there were reports about the company ramping up its plans to “supercharge” Alexa into being more than just an assistant, with generative AI set to bring out more features for it.

As one of the top-rated smart home assistants in the market, Alexa has many features that users have been able to enjoy, and the new upgrade is set to improve the experience even more.

That being said, there have been plenty of intuitive features added by Amazon which focused on accessibility, with users given a chance to control the assistant using only their eye gaze for a true hands-free experience.
