It seems that the C1 modem has beat expectations and has given users a chance to enjoy massive features, including two specific ones that set it apart from others.
As far as reviews go, it is already branded as the best 5G chipset among all iPhone releases since it adopted the new wireless technology standard with the iPhone 12.
iPhone 16e’s C1 5G Modem Offers Two Massive Features
A new report from 9to5Mac details two new features from Apple’s latest processor that are featured in the iPhone 16e. Apple revealed the C1 5G modem last week, and it is already being celebrated by many because of the significant features and capabilities it offers users.
First, Apple is now boasting of the iPhone 16e’s improved battery life. The C1 modem is a more power-efficient 5G chip for its proprietary smartphone, and this was made possible by having a small battery. Because of its power efficiency, the iPhone 16e has a better battery life compared to the iPhone 16, a mainline release, by as much as 20%.
Next, the new C1 modem is also capable of giving users better data connections and performance, especially when met with network congestion and other restrictions to using the wireless experience.
This is because the C1 modem is more compatible with iOS, offering an integrated approach to its technology where the operating system can dictate what to prioritize based on which activity or app requires it the most.
With all of these combined, Apple has taken the edge and finally marked the end of their reliance on Qualcomm’s 5G chips with a processor that is fitting of their iPhones and iOS.

Apple’s Switch to Self-Designed 5G Chips
It has been many years since Apple was rumored to be working on its self-designed 5G chips that would significantly improve the performance of its devices, particularly with the iPhones that will receive the technology.
The goal for the Cupertino-based tech giant is to end its reliance on Qualcomm’s 5G modems and go for the self-made route, one in which the company can dictate what features to bring and match its specifications to devices.
However, sources claimed in 2023 that Apple already canceled its development alongside the iPhone SE 4’s upgrade to the more modern iPhone look since the company decided to remain with Qualcomm.
By 2024, reports eventually claimed that Apple was still developing the 5G chips that would replace what Qualcomm has been supplying them all these years, and it would go alongside the iPhone SE 4 before other devices.
Almost all of these rumors ended up being true, except for the iPhone SE 4, which was replaced with the iPhone 16e.
