The controversial world of robotics and Apple’s limited presence in it are about to change as new research was discovered by a renowned analyst that the Cupertino-based tech giant is exploring this innovative technology.
However, it is important to note that Apple is still in the early stages of this development, working on both humanoid and non-humanoid robots to help humans in the future.
Additionally, it was revealed that Apple is working on a Pixar-style lamp robot as part of these plans, but there are limited details yet on its latest foray into the world of robotics.
Apple Humanoid Robot Plans Revealed by Analyst
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that Apple is now exploring the idea of developing a humanoid and a non-humanoid robot that would focus on bolstering its efforts in the smart home ecosystem. Kuo revealed that this was based on the research paper from Apple engineers that was discovered recently, centering on the upcoming development that would expand more of its smart home offers.
It was also revealed that Apple will prioritize function over aesthetics and design with their upcoming robots for the smart home, with its core technologies focusing on sensing hardware and software.
That being said, Kuo noted that this is still an early proof-of-concept (POC), which means that they are in a stage where they are only being drafted by the company and that it may be canceled in the future, like what happened with the Apple Car.

Pixar-Style Robot From Apple Is Coming
The most interesting development from Apple’s POCs is the Pixar-style lamp that was unveiled by their engineers Yuhan Hu, Peide Huang, Mouli Sivapurapu, and Jian Zhang’s latest pre-print paper.
Disney’s Pixar is known for having a lamp for a mascot, one that can move on its own to jump atop the letter “I.”
The study reveals that the lamp can be intuitive when users complete their tasks, showing off various emotions, attitude, attention, and also double as a projector.
Apple and the World of Robotics
Over the past years, robotics has never been the priority or focus of the Cupertino-based tech giant, but the company has already been criticized for its lack of dedication to it as many rivals have already been developing over the past years.
That being said, there were many reports before that claimed that Apple is already developing robots for the smart home and will be available to households soon.
It was revealed that Apple’s previous focus was on its electric vehicle project known as the Project Titan and Apple Car, but the company has since given up on this development and moved on to other projects. One of the said projects was to expand more on its smart home or personal use of robotics, with previous Apple Car engineers being tasked to work on these new developments after the EVs shut down.
However, Apple’s research and rumored plans have been pushed around multiple times in the past, with several speculated ones being doubted by analysts and sources as the company is known to cancel them at some point.
Despite this, Apple’s new plans to create humanoid and non-humanoid robots are a massive jump from the company, coinciding with their hopes to establish themselves as a smart home-focused company as well.
