Rockstar Games is set to launch Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6) this year. It has been nearly 12 years since GTA 5 was released. Fans are eagerly waiting for the new installment. As excitement builds, discussions about its price have also gained attention.

GTA 6 Pricing Speculation

A report by investment analyst Matthew Ball explores the state of the gaming industry in 2025. He suggests that GTA 6 could cost as high as $100 (about Rs 8,700). This is a significant jump from GTA 5, which launched at $59.99 (around Rs 5,200).

Ball states that some in the industry believe Rockstar may price the game at $80 (around Rs 7,000) or even $100. If true, it would break a key price barrier. This could lead to other game developers increasing their prices as well.

Inflation and Gaming Prices

Ball compares past GTA prices with today’s inflation rates. Adjusted for inflation, GTA 4 would have cost around $90 today, while GTA 5 would be about $83. Meanwhile, the costs of movies, rent, gas, and streaming services have all risen. Yet, video game prices have remained relatively low.

Industry Opinions on GTA 6’s Price

Despite speculation, Ball does not predict a $100 price for GTA 6. He believes it will likely launch at $70. This aligns with the current price for AAA games. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, first introduced the $70 base price with NBA 2K21.

Game publishers often boost revenue through premium editions, battle passes, and microtransactions. Some special editions have exceeded $100, but no base game has yet reached that price. IGN reached out to analysts who believe Rockstar will stick with $70. One analyst stated that pricing the base version at $100 without extra perks would be too much, even for GTA 6.

Could Rockstar Charge $100?

Rhys Elliott from MIDiA says GTA 6 could command a $100 price, but it would face backlash. Short-term profits might rise, but long-term trust could suffer. Mat Piscatella from Circana agrees, saying there’s no urgent need to increase the base price.

Conclusion

GTA 6 is expected to be a massive success. Some believe its price could rise, but most analysts predict it will stay at $70. Regardless of the final cost, the game is set to break records and dominate the gaming world.
