Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 15 series in the coming weeks, but recent reports are not exciting. According to new speculations and leaks via Mi Code, posted by PaperKing13, the Pro Plus model of this series will not upgrade its processor. The report claims that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, known internally as the “SM7635.” This is the same chip that powered the Redmi Note 14 Pro Plus.

The Pro Plus model is the top model of the series; thus, if it is not getting a chip upgrade, no other model in the series will get the upgrade. It’s quite sad because fans often expect some sort of performance upgrade in a new series. However, this means that we will likely see upgrades in other areas. The software, camera, display, and even battery could come with significant upgrades.

The company could also significantly upgrade the software so that the performance can be better than its predecessor despite using the same chip.

Launch Plans for the Redmi Note 15 Series

The Redmi Note 15 family is expected to make its debut this month in China before heading to global markets later in the year. As usual, the series will include several models covering different price points and features. While the phones are still a few weeks away from launch, information from trusted sources is already painting a picture of what to expect.

Other Models in the Series

The chipset details for the rest of the Redmi Note 15 lineup remain less clear. The standard Redmi Note 15 5G will likely switch from MediaTek to a Qualcomm processor, though the exact model is still unknown. Interestingly, the Redmi Note 15 Pro 5G may go the opposite way, with reports suggesting it will use a MediaTek chipset instead.

The company will also launch 4G versions of the Redmi 15 and Redmi 15 Pro, but there are no details of the chips that will power them.

If the rumours are true, the Redmi Note 15 Pro Plus will focus on improving hardware rather than all-around performance. We’re only going to know for sure at the official launch coming up later this month.
