Microsoft has introduced a major update for its Edge browser. Version 138.0.3351.55 comes with a host of artificial intelligence (AI) tools for increased productivity and usage convenience. Along with performance improvements and security fixes, the update provides three significant AI-driven tools.
Microsoft Edge Gets Major AI-Driven Overhaul in Latest Update
1. Copilot-powered Chat Summarization
The highlight of this release is the new chat summarization feature. Built into Microsoft Copilot, it enables users to easily create summaries of web page text. It’s available in the right-click menu for convenience.
When it is activated, the app scans the whole page. It afterwards condenses the information in form of a brief readable summary. This becomes very helpful to individuals dealing with long articles or research documents. Users never have to read all of it; they receive the essence in seconds.
2. Smarter AI Search on the New Tab Page
Edge now has a more interactive search experience on its new tab page. A Copilot icon has been added to the search bar. The user can tap on it and ask questions to the AI assistant.
So, as the user types, the system offers smart suggestions. They help guide the search and provide faster and more relevant results. The idea is to make browsing smoother and more interactive.
3. AI-Powered History Search
Browser history searching has become smarter. With the latest update, Edge is now capable of searching old pages even if users don’t recall using the exact phrase they used. The AI can identify synonyms, similar phrases, and even typos.
Significantly, this search function works entirely on the user’s device. Microsoft has ensured that there is no browsing data being sent to its servers. For privacy-conscious users, this feature is also switchable off under browser options.

A Push Toward Productivity
Microsoft argues that these updates are part of a broader effort to make Edge a more powerful, productivity-focused browser. Microsoft integrated Copilot more deeply to help users work smarter and more quickly.
So, the update is being rolled out automatically. Users will not be asked to download or install anything by hand. With these changes, Edge is on its way to becoming one of the best browsers in the AI-fueled productivity space.
