Oppo Reno15 and 15 Pro Have Their First Details Leaked

The Oppo Reno14 series is still fresh in our heads as they’ve been released in the last month in China. They’re proceeding with a global rollout with upcoming launches happening in Malaysia (July 1) and India (July 3). Despite this, we’re getting the first leaked details around the next big thing in this lineup – the Oppo Reno15 series. This lineup might still be several months away from release, but the popular tipster Digital Chat Station comes with details that suggest Oppo is at full steam developing the next batch of premium mid-range smartphones.

Oppo Reno15 and Reno15 Pro Specs: Fancier Cameras, Smaller Footprint, and Flagship Chipsets

According to the industry insider Digital Chat Station, the Oppo Reno15 and Reno15 Pro are already being tested with 200 MP main cameras on board. That is up from the 50 MP shooters seen on the Oppo Reno14 lineup. Considering this, Oppo is planning quite an upgrade in camera for their next lineup. The numbers alone may not be enough to impress. However, we expect the setup to be able to capture more detailed shots. The periscope telephoto shooter is also making a comeback with the next lineup.

What might be a major twist for some users is the fact that Oppo might reduce the display for both phones. As per the leak, the Oppo Reno15 will feature a 6.3-inch display. It makes it more compact when compared to the Oppo Reno 14 and its 6.59-inch panel. The Oppo Reno15 Pro is also getting a cut to 6.78 inches, compared to the 6.83 inches of the Oppo Reno 14 Pro. This downsizing movement is a trend among some smartphone makers. Time will tell if consumers will appreciate these changes.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the leak is that Oppo is considering new flagship hardware for the pair. At this point, it’s hard to guess which chipset Oppo will use for the next lineup. However, by the time of the Oppo Reno15 series’ launch, both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 will be available in the market.
