Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro 12.5 Launches with Custom XRING Chip and Giant Display

Xiaomi just announced the Pad 7S Pro 12.5 in China—and it’s not just a screen upgrade or a routine chip refresh. It’s one of the few devices in recent memory that marks a meaningful shift: away from Qualcomm and toward Xiaomi’s in-house XRING 01 processor. Yes, the 7S Pro drops the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 used in its predecessor and instead goes all-in on Xiaomi’s own 3nm, 10-core XRING SoC—a bold move that signals the company is ready to take tighter control over its performance roadmap. But the silicon isn’t the only thing that stands out.

A Display That’s More Than Just Big

At 12.5 inches, the 7S Pro’s screen isn’t just massive—it’s smartly engineered. The resolution hits 3.2K, it’s tuned to a 3:2 aspect ratio (great for productivity), and it supports 144Hz adaptive refresh plus Dolby Vision.

But the real showstopper might be the optional Nano Soft Light Edition, which introduces AG nano texture + AR optical coating. According to Xiaomi, this combo cuts reflection by 65% and blocks 99% of interfering light, making the display easier on the eyes. It’s subtle, but after a few hours of reading or writing, you’ll feel the difference.

XRING 01 SoC — First Attempt, Big Statement

This isn’t just about breaking free from Qualcomm. The XRING 01 SoC is surprisingly ambitious:

  • 10 CPU cores, including high-performance and efficiency clusters
  • 16-core Immortalis-G925 GPU
  • 6-core NPU for AI tasks

Paired with up to 16GB of LPDDR5T RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage, it’s clear Xiaomi sees the 7S Pro not just as a content consumption device, but as a laptop alternative.

And with the new HyperOS 2, built on Android 15, they’ve got the software muscle to back it up.

Cameras, Audio, and Productivity Push

A 50MP rear camera and a 32MP front camera feel almost excessive for a tablet, but it fits the premium persona Xiaomi’s crafting here. What really sells the vision, though, is support for:

  • PC-level WPS and CAJViewer apps
  • Apple file formats like Keynote and Pages
  • Floating keyboard with 0°–124° adjustment
  • Xiaomi Pen with 8192 pressure levels
  • Global AI assistant baked into HyperOS

Add six speakers, four microphones, Dolby Atmos, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4, and you’ve got one of the most full-featured tablets anywhere.

Battery and Charging

Powering all this is a 10,610mAh battery, which supports 120W fast charging and even wired reverse charging at 7.5W. Xiaomi’s also included support for multiple fast charging standards: PD3.0, PD2.0, and its own MI FC2.0 protocol.

So yes, this tablet charges faster than some laptops.

Final Thought

The Xiaomi Pad 7S Pro isn’t trying to be “just another Android tablet.” It’s a calculated shot at Apple’s iPad Pro, Samsung’s Tab S series, and even entry-level laptops. With custom silicon, serious software enhancements, and thoughtful design touches like the soft light display, Xiaomi’s aiming for professionals and power users who want more than just a big screen.

Whether the XRING 01 lives up to its promises outside the lab remains to be seen. But one thing’s clear—Xiaomi’s no longer playing it safe in the tablet space.
