Consumers can buy the Switch 2 in two primary bundles. The standard option is sold with only the console. Otherwise, customers can opt for a bundle that also includes a digital copy of Mario Kart World, a well-liked racing game that launched alongside the new console. The standard package will cost $449.99 in the US, and the bundle for $499.99. But most consumers will likely ask for additional accessories, which are optional.
Some of these accessories have also received price hikes from previous models. The Switch 2 Pro Controller, for example, now costs $84.99, which is a $5 hike from its launch price. The Joy-Con 2 controllers cost $94.99, a $5 hike from their predecessors as well. The charging grip, straps, and carrying cases are some of the other accessories that have been given price hikes in accordance with the premium nature of the new hardware.
The Nintendo Switch 2 features several key technical upgrades. It boasts a 7.9-inch 1080p LCD screen with HDR10 and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) support at up to 120Hz for a smoother and more colorful gameplay experience. Powered by a custom NVIDIA chipset, the console features enhanced graphics and faster processing speeds. The system includes 256GB of internal storage, expandable by up to 2TB via a microSD Express card, offering big space for games and content.
Battery life remains a crucial factor for portable players, and the Switch 2 packs a 5,220mAh battery. That’s 2 to 6.5 hours of play, depending on the intensity of use, according to Nintendo. Nothing revolutionary, but a solid fit for modern industry standards for portable consoles.
Overall, the Nintendo Switch 2 marks a very solid beginning. Its initial sales success, improved hardware functionality, and appealing lineup of games all indicate that it will carry on Nintendo’s firm grip on the gaming market for years to come.
