Another week, another launch patch for Elden Ring: Nightreign, this time to help balance the brutal difficulty of solo play.
Patch 1.02 was announced on X Friday, with a quick set of tweets from the game’s official account, noting a release of next week and specific improvements “for solo expeditions.”
Nightfarers,
Thank you for playing #ELDENRING #NIGHTREIGN.
Next week, Patch 1.02 will be released, and will include several bug fixes as well as improvements for solo expeditions.
Further details will be provided next week.

While the details of the patch are limited, the developers did explain some specific improvements, including:
– The effect “Automatic Revival Upon Defeat”, which allows revival once per night boss battle, will be added to solo expeditions.
– The amount of runes gained will be increased.
This should help critics of the game who were unhappy with the inability to revive themselves when playing solo (a critical feature of the multiplayer portion of the game).
Elden Ring: Nightreign currently has a Metacritic score of 78 on PS5 and 81 on PC, making it the lowest-rated FromSoftware game in several years. Players and critics alike praise the game’s combat and design but do not love the drastic shift in the expected gameplay.
The title already received an update on launch day, which addressed performance, added new scenarios, and fine-tuned some game mechanics.
Of course, while this new patch brings some much-needed relief to solo players, not all gamers are satisfied:
Add duos

The default team is in threes, with dyad groups having to deal with random team fills. In a game without audio communication tools, this can be an issue.
It’s likely that FromSoft will address all the issues both large and small in the coming weeks, but the launch impressions do matter. Here’s hoping gamers give the title another chance once it has been “fixed.”
