OnePlus just stepped into the world of smartphone AI Tuesday with the reveal of OnePlus AI and a custom hardware button, called Plus Key, set to debut on the OnePlus 13s in India first, then all OnePlus smartphones launching this year.
Similar to the multi-function Action Button on later iPhone models, the Plus Key can be assigned functions like switching sound profiles, launching the camera, starting translation, or beginning a recording. It also can activate AI Plus Mind, a new software feature that lets you save, catalog, and recall information from your screen.
“The foundation of OnePlus AI is built upon a deep understanding of its users, and they’ve told us they want AI to help them work smart, play hard, and be their authentic selves,” said Arthur Lam, Director of OxygenOS and AI Strategy in a statement. “That’s why our mission for OnePlus AI is to help our users go All In On Life, creating personalized AI solutions based around our users’ unique wants and needs.”
The OnePlus 13 includes OnePlus AI as well.

AI Plus Mind will let you hit the new button (or swipe up with three fingers) to capture what’s on the screen. OnePlus claims the new AI Plus Mind can save relevant on-screen content to what it calls a “Mind Space.” The idea is that OnePlus AI will analyze the content you save contextually, extracting things like schedule details from an image or text and entering them into your calendar. You’ll apparently be able to use natural language queries to search all of this saved content, as well.
The company said it’s developing several tools powered by OnePlus AI, as well, including AI VoiceScribe, AI Call Assistant, AI Translation, AI Search, AI Reframe, and AI Best Face 2.0. The first two tools will be India-only.
OnePlus has also added a deeper integration with Google Gemini, allowing Google’s AI system access across OxygenOS apps like OnePlus Notes and Clock, as well as with Google apps.
Of course, OnePlus also touted its privacy and security features here, saying that it prioritizes on-device processing within a “trusted environment.” Also like Apple, OnePlus has a Private computing Cloud where more intensive AI computation can happen, which is an encrypted environment for private user data.
“This is achieved through a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) that spans the
user’s device, the cloud servers, and the data transfer process itself,” the company said in its statement. “With the hybrid approach, OnePlus ensures user privacy remains protected and secure.”
