Meta Teases a WhatsApp iPad App—Can You Still Join the Beta on TestFlight?

Meta has been notorious for not creating specific apps for the iPad, and while people still wait for the iPad version of Instagram, there is also another app that is yet to arrive on the Apple tablet. It’s none other than WhatsApp.

However, a recent teaser has hinted that an iPad app may be nearby. Should WhatsApp’s iPad app really be on the horizon, it will allow users who are on the tablet to enjoy a native version of the messaging platform.

Users who are using WhatsApp on the iPad are currently required to access it via a web browser that require authentication from the mobile version of the app.

A new teaser from WhatsApp has been shared online. Meta quoted a post by a user who asked for an iPad app, using the side eye or looking emoji in reply. This may or may not mean something, but considering that the user’s post is not new, many are taking this as a hint on what’s to come.

As mentioned, WhatsApp does not have an iPad version, and the quote reply is raising hopes that it may be one the way. However, it should be noted that neither WhatsApp nor Meta has confirmed anything as of press time.

The good thing is that it is still under development since it already released a beta.

Can You Join the WhatsApp iPad App Beta?

There is a WhatsApp iPad beta that Meta shared to users from two years ago, and according to MacRumors, there are still no updates or changes from its beta state since it was made available.

Several months ago, users have been sharing the TestFlight invite link to try out the WhatsApp iPad app beta on Reddit, but apparently, it only has limited slots for people to join as the invite links available online are already closed.

Meta’s Infamous Missing iPad Apps

Meta’s social media platforms have smartphone apps, but it is limited for Apple’s tablets unlike its presence on Android where users get to enjoy the apps for both phones and tablets. One of the long-awaited iPad app versions from Meta’s platforms is Instagram as it only has an iPhone app that is ported to the iPad. In fact, Instagram’s CEO previously claimed that it an iPad version is not a priority.

Users have complained about this Instagram experience on the iPad that has black bezels to fill the gaps of the iPhone’s aspect ratio displayed on the Apple tablet, with users only having the option to magnify it twice its size for a larger display. However, for WhatsApp users, there are no iPad ports whatsoever.

That being said, it has been years since Meta released the WhatsApp iPad app beta for users to try, with no real progress for its public release. Until now, Meta has nothing to show for its WhatsApp iPad version, with the beta also closed now.
