After months of speculations and rumors, Nintendo finally brought more details about the Nintendo Switch 2 during a Nintendo Direct livestream held today, April 2. Besides revealing new games and the impressive new Mario Kart World, which arrives as one of the console’s launch titles, the company finally revealed one of the most anticipated details – the pricing. The new Nintendo Switch 2 will cost €469 in Europe and $449.99 in the United States. The company also confirmed the console will hit stores on June 5.

Nintendo Switch 2 – All Launch Details Have Been Disclosed

The Nintendo Switch 2 will hit global stores on June 5, which means we’re just two months away from knowing the excellent console. The new console, as expected, will be able to run Nintendo Switch games, Nintendo Switch 2 games, and the so-called Nintendo Switch 2 Edition games. What exactly mean? According to Nintendo, the Switch 2 Edition games will be launched originally for the first Switch. However, they will receive specific updates with improvements and new functionalities for the new console. In other words, they won’t work simply via retrocompatibility, they will have some updates. That’s similar to what Sony does with its Remastered PS4 games that reach PS5 with improvements. These games will be within the reach of Switch 1 owners with a paid upgrade, of course.

As aforementioned, Nintendo revealed that the new console will cost €469 in Europe. However, they will be able to pay €509 for the bundle with Mario Kart World. If you buy both separately, then you’ll be paying a lot more. For example, Mario Kart World will cost €79 for the digital media, and €89 for the physical disk. Meanwhile, Donkey Kong Bonanza will cost €69 for the digital media and €79 for the physical disk.

We expect more announcements to happen in the next two months. After all, more games will certainly be confirmed as launch titles for the Nintendo Switch 2. Given the new console’s refreshed horsepower, we expect it to bring some titles that were present in the Xbox One/PS4 generation but couldn’t hit Switch due to technical limitations. Also, Nintendo will likely unveil a lot of new exclusives to take full advantage of the new console. It is worth noting that games like Cyberpunk 2077, and Final Fantasy VII Remake have been confirmed for the console.
