Whereas the majority of fans across the globe will have their first look when the countdown reaches “One Day To Go,” Japanese gamers already have the sneak peek, courtesy of time zones. Of course, the picture soon found its way to social media, going viral and treating fans to an early glimpse of what’s in store.

As Stealth40k discovered on Reddit, the photograph doesn’t look particularly groundbreaking, but for all those taking careful notice, several details exist.

The Switch 2 appears in three gaming modes, showing Nintendo’s ongoing dedication to hybrid gaming. Nonetheless, the bigger mystery is revealed on the right-hand side, where a cryptic “mouse mode” Joy-Con is highlighted.

Redditors speculate this is proof of the long-hypothesized mouse-like control mode. Nintendo officially hasn’t said anything, but the initial reveal trailer, recent patents, and now this new image all suggest a new and intriguing input method.

With months of silence from Nintendo, anticipation for the April 2 Direct is higher than ever.

Other Nintendo Switch 2 Features Could Come as a Surprise

Although leaks and rumors have been floating around for a while, this new image puts more credence to speculation regarding enhanced hybrid play modes, exclusive game announcements, new hardware improvements, and, of course, the rumored mouse feature that could allow us to play “Mario Paint” on a different console.

If the rumors are true about the Switch 2 pre-orders on April 2, there’s a strong chance that the official launch date of the console is in June.
