Spotify Audiobooks Adds AI-Narrated Content to the Platform—Will It Sound Like TikTok?

The era of AI has taken over the world across different industries, with streaming platforms also getting into the trend. Spotify is now leveraging the power of AI when it comes to its Audiobooks.

While Spotify will not use generative AI to help them create content for Audiobook episodes, it will instead use AI to help narrate the existing, human-written compositions.

At present, the platform already has hundreds of thousands of audiobooks available to stream, but the company is looking to dramatically expand what it has to offer its users.

Spotify Audiobooks Adds AI-Narrated Content

According to Spotify’s latest announcement, the company is partnering with ElevenLabs to fulfill the AI voice narration for upcoming content. The company explained that this initiative looks to help authors who want to transform their content and writing into an audiobook in a faster and more efficient way.

The company said that they will accept AI-narrated audiobooks from author’s entries. Spotify explained that this is one of the top requested features by creators.

Moreover, Spotify also shared that authors may also find other audiobook retailers via Findaway Voices to reach more listeners and fans to stream their read-aloud content more cost-effectively.

Will This Sound Like a TikTok AI Voice Over?

TikTok is among those that have popularized AI voiceovers, and one of the most discerning qualities of this feature is its robot-like voice featuring different genders. However, Spotify assures that their collaboration with ElevenLabs will give authors high-quality features that are easy-to-use and offer up to 29 languages to choose from.

Authors only need to create an AI-narrated audiobook via ElevenLabs and download the file package that they will later need to upload to Findaway Voices by Spotify. It will undergo a standard review before it is eligible to be uploaded to the Spotify platform.

Spotify and AI

Artificial Intelligence is a massive part of the current technological landscape, and as many companies integrated it into their systems, the public is starting to get used to its presence and available services.

Spotify is one of those companies that embraced AI and offered its customers a chance to enjoy services featuring the technology, with last year’s release of its AI DJ that offers a bilingual experience in English and Spanish.

However, the biggest AI feature for Spotify now is their anticipated AI-generated playlists that allow the creation of a collection of songs from scratch, requiring users to create prompts for the chatbot-like technology to follow.

Last year, the company came around to launching the AI-generated playlists in the beta, but it was not a widely available release for users.

Despite adding some AI features to its platformer, Spotify is still restrictive when it comes to AI-generated songs.
