Elon Musk’s X Settles Twitter Ban Lawsuit With President Trump for $10M

X and Elon Musk have now settled the lawsuit brought by President Donald J. Trump against them after the infamous ban he faced on major social media platforms following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

It was revealed that Musk agreed to pay around $10 million to the current President to close out this four-year-old grudge of Trump against X for getting rid of him from the platform.

After the Capitol riot in 2021, Trump has been at the center of controversy after calling upon his supporters to gather arms and protest in Washington, leading to his social media ban.

According to a recent report by The Wall Street Journal, Elon Musk and X have decided to settle the pending lawsuit Donald J. Trump has against Twitter, with both agreeing to pay around $10 million to the President of the United States. Following the Jan. 6 incident four years ago, Trump was kicked off several social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter (now X).

While the lawsuit has been dismissed by a California district court in 2022, Trump still fought against these companies for damages wherein Meta already paid a $25 million settlement last month.

Trump’s Twitter lawsuit centered on claiming that the social media violated his First Amendment rights to free speech, as well as calling Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act unconstitutional.

Elon Musk’s Support for Trump Costs Him Millions

The latest settlement by X and Elon Musk agreed to pay Trump is around $10 million, but this is only a fraction of what the billionaire has already spent to help the now POTUS attain his return to the White House.

It was revealed that Musk has spent an estimated $250 million to help President Trump during his entire campaign.

There is no denying that Musk and Trump have a deep relationship as the renowned multi-tech CEO has admired the businessman-turned-politician over the years, dating back to his first term. However, everything changed when Musk pledged his support to Trump last year, and the billionaire also helped significantly with POTUS’ campaign when he was still in the race.

Since then, Musk has been in the good graces of Trump, and after election day and seeing Trump win the race, he gave his partner billionaire a very significant role in the government. Elon Musk was named the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, which was cleverly shortened to DOGE, to improve the United States’ spending and speed up processes.

The support each has for the other has made for a massive partnership that involves a politician who has the highest seat in the United States government and one of the richest people in the world.
